The Story of Four Friends

Once upon a time, a deer, a crow, a mouse and a turtle were great friends.

One day the deer went out to graze. He was caught in a hunter net. In the evening, the deer did not return to his friends.

The mouse said to the crow, ‘Will you fly over the trees and find the deer? Then fly back to us and tell us where he is.’

The crow flew away. He came back after half an hour. He said, ‘Our friend, the deer is in the hunter’s net.’

‘What shall we do’? said the mouse and the turtle.

‘I will take mouse on my back,’ said the crow. ‘He will bite through the net and set the deer free.’

‘Yes,’ said the mouse. I will do that.’

‘And I will walk to the deer,’ said the turtle. The crow took the mouse on his back and flew with him to the deer.

The mouse bit through the net. The deer was free. The turtle got to his friends and all were very happy together.



Lesson Learnt: by Dedoyin

These animals were all small in themselves to release the deer but with unity, the impossible becomes possible. People say ‘Unity is Strength.’ Yet it is truer to imagine “Unity is Strength…when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”

The Fox and the Grapes

At last he saw a grapevine on which fine bunches of ripe, black grapes were hanging. The Fox stood up but the grapes were too high above his head. He made several jumps upwards; still the grapes were beyond his reach. When he could not get at them by any means, he turned away. While going away, he tried to console himself saying, “The grapes are sour, and not as ripe as they look!” Lesson Learnt: by Dedoyin In every circumstance, we must learn to look at the positive side. Even in every bad situation, there are some hidden blessings therein. The story teaches us to be grateful for every circumstance we find ourselves, things may have turned out worse.
